New Haven, Conn. - Junior Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) and freshman Salah Oumorou (West Haven, Conn.) of the men's soccer team have been named as the Albertus Magnus College Student-Athletes of Week. Initiated in September, 2017, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
Oumorou, who was also named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, tallied two goals and an assist for a total of five points in a 1-0-1 week for the Falcons. The rookie scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner, and tallied his first collegiate assist in a 4-2 win over Lasell on Saturday.
Fenn, who was also named GNAC Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week, stopped a total of 31 shots for a .939 save percentage as well as recorded her second shutout of the fall in a 1-1 for the Falcons. She opened the week by stopping 19 shots in the loss to Simmons and recorded a 12-save performance in the win over Regis (Mass.).
The women's soccer team will be off for the next six days before hosting Saint Joseph's of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 as part of Homecoming. The men's soccer team returns to action next week against Western Connecticut State University and River University.
