Five Baseball Players Earn All-GNAC Honors

Winthrop, Mass. – Five Albertus Magnus College baseball players earned All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons landed one player on the first team, two on the second team and two on the third team.

Sophomore third basemen Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.) was named to the first team after a standout year at the plate while senior Tom Crocco (Kings Park, N.Y.) and junior Tyriq Harris (Waterbury, Conn.) both received second team distinction. Sophomore Christian Bradley (Stratford, Conn.) and Brandon Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) rounded out the league-end honors for Albertus with being named to the third team.

The GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team was also announced on Tuesday and junior infielder Roberto Garcia (Bridgeport, Conn.) represented Albertus Magnus on the squad.

Warren was named a first-team all-conference selection as a third baseman for the first time in his collegiate career and won the gold glove for the position. The sophomore ranked within the top five in the NCAA in triples per game (0.20) while ranking in the top 20 in triples (6) and RBI per game (1.38). Warren led the league in triples (6), home runs (6), sacrifice flies (5) and in slugging percentage (.719). He also boasted a batting average of .360 with a team-best 32 hits as well as drove in 19 runs and totaled a career-high 40 RBI.

Crocco ends his four-year career as a Falcon by earning conference-wide recognition for the first time. The senior designated hitter appeared in 27 games and boasted a stat line of .356/.391/.425 with 21 RBI this spring. He tallied 31 hits, including three doubles, during the year and scored a total of six runs. Later in the season against Suffolk, Crocco recorded his first collegiate home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Harris receives second-team distinction for the first time in his career thanks to a team-leading 14 stolen bases and 32 hits. The outfielder hit a .372 at the plate while driving in 24 runs and tallying a career-best 14 RBI. While posting a .465 on-base percentage, the junior was also stellar on the field committing only one error to boast a .980 fielding percentage over 49 total chances.

Clark had a breakout spring for the Falcons earning his first all-conference honor as a sophomore. He started in 25 games and hit .382 at the plate with an on-base percentage of over .500. The catcher led the team with 28 runs scored, 26 walks and six doubles while smacking a total of 26 hits. Clark also concluded the spring with 14 RBI and nine stolen bases.

Bradley finished out his sophomore year earning all-conference honors after registering 29 hits, including five doubles, three triples and three home runs, for a .312 batting average, ranking him sixth on the team. He collected a career-best 18 RBI and drove in 11 runs for the Falcons this spring. The outfielder concluded the year posting a .956 fielding percentage despite recording two errors over 45 total chances.

Garcia appeared in 23 games at second base for Albertus Magnus in 2018. He scored five runs, knocked 11 hits and picked up four RBI. On the base paths, he stole seven bases while posting a .340 on-base percentage.

The Albertus Magnus College baseball team finished the 2018 season with an 8-21 overall record and posted a league mark of 4-10.
