Men's Soccer Comes Up Short at Home Against SUNY New Paltz, 4-2

New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team came up short, 4-2, in non-conference play against SUNY New Paltz Monday evening at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SUNY New Paltz jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage just eight minutes in following back-to-back goals from Ryan Martinez and James Hennessy. Nearly two minutes later, freshman Peter Rivera (Norwalk, Conn.) would find the back of the net for his first collegiate goal to bring the Falcons to within one, 2-1, with plenty of time left to play in the half.

With less than a minute to go in the first, Luke Dole would put one passed the Falcons' keeper to give the visitors the 3-1 edge entering halftime.

Midway through the second, the Hawks would find themselves up by three, 4-1, as Kevin Doorley scored on a penalty kick at the 68th minute. The Falcons final attempt came at the 85th minute as junior Diogo Cruz (Naugatuck, Conn.) scored on a penalty kcik following a foul on SUNY New Paltz.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Hawks outshot the Falcons, 24-8, including a 15-2 shots on goal advantage.
