Women’s Basketball Picked to Finish Seventh in GNAC Preseason Poll

Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll. The Poll, which was released Monday afternoon, is voted on by the league's 13 head coaches.

The Falcons earned 102 points to finish just two points behind sixth-place Norwich. Fresh off its third GNAC Championship, Saint Joseph's of Maine received nine first-place votes and 162 points to finish atop of the poll. Emmanuel (Mass.) finished second in the poll with 153 points and two-first place votes. Johnson & Wales was just behind the Saints in the poll for third place with 152 points and two first-place tallies.

Newest GNAC member Regis (Mass.) took the fourth spot in the preseason poll with 113 points. Suffolk rounded out the top-five with 111 points, followed by Norwich, Albertus Magnus and Simmons with 87 points.

Making up the remainder of the poll after the Sharks was Rivier with 51 points, Saint Joseph's (Conn.) with 50 points and Anna Maria rounding out the top-11 with 36 points. Lasell and Mount Ida rounded out the poll in the 12th and 13th spots, respectively.

Albertus Magnus opens the 20017-18 campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. against in-state foe Mitchell College.
