NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Albertus Magnus College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon, dropping a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game, 13-12, followed by a non-conference 10-7 loss.
The Adriel Espada (Bridgeport, Conn.) was 4-for-8 with a double, six runs and an RBI in the doubleheader. Anthony Abate (Naugatuck, Conn.) drove in five runs in game one. Eddy Garabito (Norwalk, Conn.) was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs in the first game and Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Bobby Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) each drove in three runs on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The bats for both teams got off to a hot start as the Falcons scored three runs in the top of the first as Garabito drove in Espada - who doubled to lead off the game - with an RBI single. Two batters later, Galarza hit a two-run double down the line to put the Falcons up, 3-0.
- In the bottom of the inning, the Chargers got two runs back on an RBI doubleby Evan Dennis and an RBI single by Dylan Watson.
- The Falcons took a commanding lead in the top of the third, scoring seven runs. Shawn Smith (Shelton, Conn.) had an RBI single after two batters were walked earlier in the inning. With the bases loaded, Arent was hit by a pitch and Espada was walked to put the Falcons ahead, 6-2. Abate then cleared the bases with a three-run double, making it a 9-2 game. Galarza then added his third RBI of the game with a single to drive in Abate.
- Colby-Sawyer battled back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth that included a two-run double by Jared Schmitt and Albertus scored two in the top of the fifth on a two-run single by Abate.
- Schmitt came up big again for the Chargers in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer as part of a five-run inning that cut the Albertus lead to 12-10.
- In the bottom of the eighth, the Chargers took the lead for good. Dennis hit an RBI single, followed by a throwing error after a sacrifice bunt from Watson that scored the tying and eventual game-winning run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Joseph Cortes (Bridgeport, Conn.) sacrifice fly gave Albertus the early 1-0 lead but the Chargers scored four in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run homer by Watson and RBI doubles by Cooper O'Brien and Dennis.
- After two more runs by the Chargers in the bottom of the second the Falcons scored a run in the top of the third as Jose Hernandez (West Haven, Conn.) drove in his first run of the season with an RBI single.
- Colby-Sawyer scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, making it a 9-2 game.
- Albertus rallied for four more runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 9-6. After the the first three batters reached base, Galarza's sacrifice fly scored Espada. Two batters later, Arent hit a two-run double, making it a 9-5 game. Albertus scored one more run on a wild pitch.
- Cortes added an RBI single that scored Hernandez, who doubled with one out in the sixth.
