DAVENPORT, FL. - The Albertus Magnus College baseball team lost a 10-2 game to Vassar College on Monday afternoon at the RussMatt Florida Invitational

Robert Anton (Woodbury, Conn.) and Anthony Abate (Naugatuck, Conn.) were responsible for driving in the two Albertus runs. 

Adriel Espada (Bridgeport, Conn.) had a pair of stolen bases.

Alexander Heidel (New Britain, Conn.) got the start on the mound, striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Vassar jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first as Ethan Fox-Fernandez brought in a couple on a double down the left field line.
  • The Falcons responded in their half of the first as Anton singled home Espada, who singled to open the inning.
  • The Falcons tied the game in the second on a fielder's choice as Abate grounded out to short. Brayden Hastings (Wallingford, Conn.) came across to score after hitting a triple.
  • Vassar regained the lead in the fourth, scoring six runs on only three hits, but took advantage of two errors, two walks, and a hit by pitch.
  • Vassar added one more run in both the eighth and ninth innings.
