MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College baseball team bested the Cardinals of Wesleyan University (Conn.) 7-6, on the road on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Albertus rallied late in the game with a run in both the eighth and nine innings for the comeback win.
Jacob Encarnacion (Danbury, Conn.) collected three hits, including his first career triple and drove in the first three runs of his career.
Noah Grosso (Farmington, Conn.) went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Hristos Tomczak (Wallingford, Conn.) picked up the win in relief, the first of his career after pitching three innings, allowing only two runs on two hits, one walk, and one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons jumped to the 1-0 lead in the top of the second as Gianni Barberio (New Milford, Conn.) grounded out to second, scoring Grosso - who singled to lead off the inning.
- The Cardinals answered back in their half of the second as they scored twice on a pair of bases loaded walks to Matthew DeBenedictis and James Marsden.
- Albertus responded the next inning as Encarnacion singled driving home Yerison Ramirez (Bridgeport, Conn.).
- DeBenedictis singled up the middle in the fourth, scoring Tucker DeWolf to put Wesleyan ahead, 3-2.
- In the top of the fifth, Encarnacion sent a 2-1 pitch over the center fielder's head for a two-run triple, scoring Baltazar Mesa (Santo Domingo, D.R.) and Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.) to put the Falcons in front 4-3.
- In the Cardinals' half of the sixth inning, DeBenedictis drove home DeWolf with an RBI triple to even the game at 4-4.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Grosso ripped a 3-2 pitch to left field to bring Mesa home. The Cardinals took the lead right back in the bottom half of the inning as Cole Sipes reached base via a throwing error, two more runs scored for the Cardinals.
- With Albertus down by one in the top of the eighth, Jose Hernandez (West Haven, Conn.) singled home Nick Ramos (Mineola, N.Y.) to tie it once again.
- In the top of the ninth, Grosso singled with one out and stole second. Two consecutive passed balls allowed him to score to give Albertus the 7-6 lead.
