NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Albertus Magnus College has announced that it will discontinue its field hockey program, effective immediately. The team recently concluded its 2025 season.
This decision came after a thorough review of the program.
"Field hockey was brought into our athletics offerings eight years ago with the intent of building a robust program,'' said Director of Athletics Michael Kobylanski. "Over that time our field hockey student-athletes have competed with grace and consistently performed well in the classroom.
"However, the reality is that the program's ability to provide a competitive and rewarding experience to the student-athletes has been compromised due to continuous low roster sizes throughout the program's duration. As a result, this decision is an unfortunate, but necessary one, at this time."
Albertus Magnus College and its athletic department will provide support to all of the impacted student-athletes related to their academic and athletic interests following this announcement.
