The #13 Albertus Magnus men's basketball team will take on #14 WPI on Friday, March 7 in a 5:30 p.m. contest in the 2014 Division III men's basketball NCAA Tournament First Round.
The match-up will take place at Purchase College, home of the 19th-ranked Purchase Panthers.
The Falcons (26-2) are coming off an 84-49 dominating GNAC Tournament Championship victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine as the Falcons are making their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and the fourth in the last five years.
The Engineers are 22-4 on the season and captured the NEWMAC regular season title for the ninth time in 11 years before falling to MIT in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals. WPI earns an at-large bid into this year's tournament and will play in the NCAAs for the eighth time in the last 10 years. WPI has also won 20 games in each of its last 10 seasons.
Purchase and Hartwick will play in an 8:00 p.m. match-up on Friday night following the Falcons/Engineers' contest.
Purchase has won four of the last five Skyline Conference titles after defeating Mount Saint Mary 100-82 on Saturday. Hartwick won the Empire 8 title with a 67-62 win over Nazareth on Saturday. The crown marks the Hawks' second since 2011. It is also the Hawks' 18th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
UPDATE ON TICKETS FOR THE MEN'S BASKETBALL NCAA TOURNAMENT:
Tickets on Friday night are $10 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens and all students with ID. Children under two-years-old are free for both days.
General admission for Saturday night's matchup will be $6 at the door and $3 for seniors and students with ID. Cash only.
All ticket prices are determined by the NCAA.
