Men's Basketball's Winning Streak Snapped Against No. 1 Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped in a 92-56 lost to No. 1 Trinity College (Conn.) in the championship game of the Trinity Holiday Classic on Wednesday afternoon.

Isaiah Earl (Hamden, Conn.) and Nate Charlot (Monroe, Conn.) each scored 13 points to lead the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jayquan Kirkland (Stratford, Conn.) scored the first bucket of the game for the Falcons to give them an early 2-0 lead, but Trinity scored 23 of the next 25 points to take control of the game as the Bantams led 23-4 with 12:32 left in the first half. Trinity went 9-for-10 from the field during the stretch, including 4-for-4 from three.
  • Kante and Earl each scored four points for the Falcons in the half, but the Bantams went ahead 46-12 into halftime. Tristan Favis scored 10 points to pace the Bantams, while David Ayles and Jared Berry each scored seven in the first half.
  • The offense picked up for the Falcons after halftime as Earl scored nine points in the first six minutes of the second half while Ta'zhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) scored four and Charlot, three during the same stretch.
  • The two teams traded baskets the rest of the way as Albertus was unable to make a dent in the Trinity lead. The Falcons did hit five of their seven three-point attempts in the half.
