Grigas Scores First Career Goal; But Men's Lacrosse Drops Home Matchup To MSMC

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team lost a home matchup to the Knights of Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) Wednesday night at Celentano Field, 8-2. 

Hayden Grigas (Milford, Conn.) scored his first career goal. Nicholas Longo (Ridge, N.Y.) had the other Albertus goal. 

Alexis Gonzalez (Edison, N.J.) got the start in goal, making 13 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Knights jumped to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter as four different players netted a goal, including Devin Lanzer, Henry Micyk, Luke Dombroski, and Hayden Mitchell. Mitchell also had an assist in the quarter.
  • Albertus got on the board two minutes into the second quarter as Longo sent the ball into the net for his 11th goal of the season.
  • The Knights responded with the second goal of the game by Micyk to go up 5-1 entering halftime.
  • The lone goal in the third quarter came at 3:58 as Lanzer scored his second of the game to increase the Knights' lead to five going into the fourth quarter.
  • Early in the fourth quarter, the Falcons added their second goal as Grigas took a pass from Marcus Burrows (West Haven, Conn.) to put it past Kenny Leen for his first career goal.
  • The Knights added two more goals, courtesy of Robby Maurer to close it out.
