Burrows Scores Seven Goals In Men's Lacrosse Win Over Mitchell

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Marcus Burrows (West Haven, Conn.) tied a career-high with seven goals as the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team defeated Mitchell College, 16-4 on Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.

Along with his seven goals, Burrows also added an assist and six ground balls.

Sean Keenan (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored four goals with two assists and five ground balls. Nicholas Longo (Ridge, N.Y.) had two goals, two assists and four ground balls.

Robert Delbuono (Shelton, Conn.), Hayden Grigas (Milford, Conn.) and Alex Morales (Wallingford, Conn.) also added a goal. DaKari Coleman (Norwalk, Conn.) won 14 of his 16 faceoffs and had three ground balls.

Alexis Gonzalez (Edison, N.J.) had 10 saves on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It took just 29 seconds for the Falcons to get on the board as Burrows took a pass from Coleman to put the Falcons ahead, 1-0. Keenan scored the first of his four goals to put the Falcons ahead by two goals just over three minutes into the game. 
  • After Mitchell got on the board at the 9:54 mark of the first quarter, Keenan responded with his second of the game just eight seconds later. Grigas added a goal and Keenan scored his third of the quarter as Albertus held a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
  • The Falcons took an 8-2 lead into halftime as Burrows and Keenan each scored a goal with a man down in the second quarter. Longo also scored his first goal of the game in the second quarter.
  • Burrows added two goals and an assist in the third quarter and Delbuono and Morales scored a goal as Albertus took full control, taking a 12-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Albertus scored three goals in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, including two more from Burrows and a goal and assist from Longo. Burrows added his seventh and final goal with 56 seconds remaining.
