New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Volleyball team lost a heartbreaker to Yeshiva University in five sets after overcoming a 2-0 deficit before losing 19-17 in the fifth set. The Falcons dropped the first match to 12th ranked Emmanuel College 3-0 (25-6, 25-7, 25-8). The second match saw the Falcons fall behind 2-0 before forcing a fifth set with 25-14 and well deserved 29-27 wins in the third and fourth sets respectively.
The fifth set saw an early Falcons lead erased and their upending 19-17 after a hard fought match by both teams.
Freshman outside hitter Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, CT/Danbury) led the Falcons on the day with an impressive 32 killsand 27 assists while freshman outside hitter Chris Pfeffer (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott Tech) added 15 kills.
Albertus drops to 0-9, 0-5 GNAC while #12 Emmanuel College improves to 16-4, 8-1 GNAC while Yeshiva improves to 4-3, 1-1 CUNY.
The Falcons travel to West Haven, CT to take on host and Division II opponent the University of New Haven on Friday night at 7:00 pm.
