New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Volleyball team picked up it's first win of the season in convincing fashion as it topped visiting St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-10) on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons dropped the other match of the day to visiting Mount Saint Vincent 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-13).
The first match featured a balanced Albertus attack as freshman Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, CT/Danbury) led the way with a team high 11 kills. Freshman middle hitter Jeff Tierney (Hamden, CT/Notre Dame) added seven kills while fellow freshman hitters Chris Pfeffer (Torrington, CT/Wolcott Tech) and Matt Brancaccio (West Haven, CT/Notre Dame) chipped in six kills each for the young Falcons. Senior setter David Teodosio (Guilford, CT/Notre Dame) recorded 18 assists.
The second match saw the Falcons battle against a talented Mount Saint Vincent team that saw senior outside hitter David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) record his 1,000th career kill. Albertus was led by DeSousa and his team high nine kills.
The Falcons host their last home match of the season on Tuesday night when they face Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Mount Ida College as they honor their seniors Pedro Suncar (Providence, RI/The Met) and Teodosio at 7:00 PM.
