THE BASICS
FINAL: Lasell 3 | Albertus Magnus 2
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (22-19) | Lasell (24-16)
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The Falcons put a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning without a hit as Paige Scheid (Cedar Grove, N.J.) reached on an error and advanced to third after a walk and a fielder's choice. With Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) at the plate, a pitch got past Lasell catcher Alyssa Bland to score Scheid to give Albertus the early 1-0 lead.
-
Lasell went up 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning highlighted by a two-run double from Ally Kirck and an RBI single from Brianna Gendreau.
-
Arent did not allow a hit over the next three innings, keeping the Lasers' bats at bay.
-
The Falcons made it a one-run game in the top of the sixth as Hailey Laforte (Branford, Conn.) singled, stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Smith then drove a ball to deep center and Laforte just beat the throw home to make it a 3-2 game.
-
In the top of the seventh, Julianna Petruzziello (West Haven, Conn.) opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jazmyn Browne (Bristol, Conn.). However, two pop outs ended the game and Petruzziello was stranded on second.
