WESTON, Mass. - Skylar Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) notched her 100th career hit as the Albertus Magnus College softball team split two eight inning games against Regis College (Mass.) on Sunday, taking game one 6-3 before falling 8-7 in the second game in the team's regular season and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) finale.
The Falcons broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning to take the game one win. Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.)won her third game of the week in game one, pitching a complete game eight innings, giving up just one earned run on three hits while striking out four in game one.
Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) reached base five times over the two games that included a double, triple and three walks. She also scored four runs. Izzy Barreiro (Brookfield, Conn.) drove in three runs on the day while Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) was 3-for-7 with three runs on the day. Both Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.) and Mikaela Schwippert (Whippany, N.J.) each scored two runs and drove in two.
For Arent, it is the second milestone she has reached this season as she reached 200 career strikeouts as a pitcher earlier this year. She is the third player in program history to acheive both 200 strikeouts as a pitcher and 100 hits, joining Candice Giordano and Laura Anderson.
The Falcons have clinched the No. 2 spot in the GNAC South Division for the upcoming GNAC Championships. The Falcons will host a game at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the pod portion of the tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After both teams were retired in order in the first inning, the Falcons took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Schwippert doubled to centerfield to lead off the inning. Carangelo followed with a walk and Edwards ripped a double down the left field line to score Schwippert. Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) then had an RBI groundout. Barreiro followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Falcons the three-run lead.
- Regis answered with three runs on the bottom of the third. Sydney Grund had an RBI double and an error by the Falcons scored two runs, tying the game, 3-3.
- From the fourth through the seventh innings, Jabs and Regis starter Gabriella Blanchard kept the bats quiet as only three batters combined reached base through the stretch.
- In the top of the eighth inning, however, the Falcons were able to break through for three runs. Smith started the inning on seocond base. After a bunt single by Gianna Carrano (West Haven, Conn.) put runners on the corner, a wild pitch by Blanchard scored Smith to give Albertus the lead. Three batters later, Carangelo walked and another wild pitch would score Carrano. Edwards then added one more run on an RBI single.
- Jabs shut down the Pride in order in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored one in the first inning, thanks to the top of the order. Smith led off with a single and Arent's 100th career hit - a double to right center - put runners on second and third. Schwippert followed with a groundout that scored Smith to make it a 1-0 Albertus lead.
- Albertus took a commanding 6-0 lead in the top of the fourth after scoring five runs in the inning. Smith led off the inning with a single and three batters later was driven in by Schwippert, who singled. Carangelo then followed with an RBI double, making it a 3-0 game. Schwippert later scored on a wild pitch and Barreiro's two-run double scored Edwards - who reached on a fielder's choice - and Carangelo for the final two runs of the inning.
- Arent retired the first eight batters she faced before Regis was able to get two runs on the boards with a two-out rally in the bottom of the third. After a walk and a double, Chloe Beland drove in two runs, making it a 6-2 game.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Pride cut the Albertus lead to 6-4 as Lynsey Kay had an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch.
- Albertus increased its lead to three runs, going up 7-4 in the top of the seventh as Carangelo, who tripled with two outs, scored on a passed ball.
- However, Regis loaded the bases with three singles in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs in the inning, an error by the Falcons scored all three base runners to tie the game, 7-7.
- Regis scored their game winning run on an RBI single by Abby Erickson in the bottom of the eighth.
