NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) hit a grand slam in game one as the Albertus Magnus College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Plymouth State. The Falcons took game one 13-4 in five innings, before falling 10-4 in game two.
Carangelo also had a double in game one two go with two runs and a career-high five RBI. Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) had four hits between the two games and scored three runs while driving in two.
Mikaela Schwippert (Whippany, N.J.) drove in two runs and scored two in game one and Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in game one.
Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) got the win in game one, pitching five innings and striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Jabs struck out two in the top of a scoreless first inning, the Falcons put up five runs in the bottom of the inning. After the Falcons drew three consecutive walks to start the inning, Austin singled to drive in Smith to put Albertus on the board. It set the stage for Carangelo who sent a 1-1 pitch over the left-centerfield fence to put the Falcons up, 5-0. It was her third home run of of the season.
- Both teams went scoreless in the second inning, but both teams put up big numbers in the third. The Panthers scored four runs in the top of the inning, highlighted by an RBI single by Lilly Vetelino after they loaded the bases.
- Albertus doubled what the Panthers scored in the top of the third by scoring eight in the bottom half of the inning. With one out and a runner on, Carangelo ripped a double to centerfield to score Austin. Boulli then followed with an RBI single to make it a 7-4 game. A bases loaded walk followed by an RBI single by Gina Solow (Fairfield, Conn.) which also plated a run on a Panthers error, made it a 10-4 game. Schwippert then added a two-run single and Austin added an RBI single as the Falcons led 13-4 after the third inning.
- Jabs shut the door in the final two innings to earn the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers scored once in the top of the first on a wild pitch to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Albertus took its first and only lead of the game in the bottom of the second as Amelia Ovalles (Lawrence, Mass.) had an RBI single followed by an RBI groundout by Sofia Verastigue (San Diego, Ca.), making it a 2-1 game.
- The Panthers opened up the game in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs, and taking a 5-2 lead. They added one more in the fifth and one in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Avery Couch.
- A two-run double by Kenzie Bessette highlighted a three-run seventh inning for the Panthers as they took a 10-2 lead.
- Albertus scored twice in the bottom of the inning as Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) had an RBI on a fielder's choice and Solow plated a run on a sacrifice fly.
