CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team remained undefeated after a 20-3, 7-1 sweep of Elms College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Saturday.
The Falcons remain undefeated in GNAC play at 8-0, which is the best start to conference play since the 2022 season when the Falcons won their first 14 GNAC games.
Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) was a perfect 6-for-6 with two doubles, three runs and five RBI in the doubleheader, while also earning the win in game one, striking out four in three innings.
Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) went 3-for-5 with five runs and three RBI on the day while Mikaela Schwippert (Whippany, N.J.) had two doubles, a triple, five runs and four RBI in the two wins.
Amelia Ovalles (Lawrence, Mass.) earned the win in game two, striking out six in four innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albertus started off strong, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. After Carrano singled and Schwippert doubled, Austin reached on a fielder's choice to score a run. Carangealo hit an RBI single and Ovalles hit a two-run double to make it a 4-0 game. Two batters later, Barreiro hit an RBI single to put the Falcons ahead, 5-0.
- The Falcons added two more in thte top of the second on an RBI double by Schwippert and a sacrifice fly by Carangelo.
- Albertus blew the game open in the top of the third with a season-best eight run third inning. Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) and Barreiro reached on a single and double, respectively, before Gabby Rubino (Southington, Conn.) hit an RBI single. After one more run by the Falcons on an Elms error, Schwippert laced a bases loaded triple to pu the Falcons ahead, 12-0. Austin added an RBI single and Barreiro batted again in the inning and added a two-run double to put Albertus ahead, 15-0.
- Elms scored two runs in the fourth including an RBI single by Nyah Colon.
- The Falcons scored five runs in the top of the fifth as Kaitlyn Scribner (Quaker Hill, Conn) notched her first hit and RBI on a single. The Falcons also added RBI singles from Caitlyn Burke (Lynnfield, Mass.), Gina Solow (Fairfield, Conn.), Megan Cross (North Haven, Conn.) and Tessa D'Aquila (Old Saybrook, Conn.) to make it a 20-1 game.

- Carangelo hit an RBI single in the top of the first to put Albertus on the board.
- The Falcons hadded two more runs in both the third and the fourth as Ovalles hit an RBI single in the third inning. In the fourth, Carangelo hit a two-run double, putting Albertus ahead, 5-1.
- Austin added an RBi single in the sicth and Carangelo followed with another RBI double.
