MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to Wesleyan College, 6-1 and 4-2 on Tuesday evening.

Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) had three doubles on the day, including two in game one.

Izzy Barreiro (Southington, Conn.) was 2-for-3 in game two with a double and Mikaela Schwippert (Whippany, N.J.) had an RBI double in the second game.

Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) had six strikeouts in game one. Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) had three strikeouts in two innings of relief in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Boulli hit a one out single in the top of the first. After two walks to load the bases, Carangelo hit a ground out to score Boulli to make it a 1-0 Albertus lead.
• Cat Palmer of Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the first with an RBI single.
•  Jabs struck out one batter in the second inning and two more in the third.
• The Cardinals took a 4-1 lead as Rebecca Cassel-Siskind hit a two-run single with the bases loaded. An error on the play by the Falcons cleared the bases. Wesleyan added two more runs in the sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After the Falcons were retired in order in the top of the first, the Cardinals responded with three in the bottom of the inning as Cassel-Siskind hit an RBI single to score Molly Lennon, who doubled to lead off the inning. A fielding error and a passed ball plated the other two runs.
• The Falcons had runners on second and third in the top of the third, but were unable to score. Wesleyan added a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Waverly Smart.
• Carangelo struck out two batters in the bottom of the fifth in relief.
• Albertus got on the board in the top of the sixth as Gianna Carrano (West Haven, Conn.) hit an RBI single with the bases loaded to score Carangelo, who reached on an error. 
• In the top of the seventh, Boulli and Schwippert hit back-to-back doubles to make it a 4-2 game. Albertus had runners on the corners after a single by Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) and then had runners on second and third after a ground out, but were unable to plate another run.
