NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team had an offensive outburst in a doubleheader sweep of Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. Albertus won game one, 21-3, before holding onto a 16-13 win in game two.
Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) was 6-for-7 on the day with a home run, triple and two doubles, while scoring five runs and driving in eight. She drove in seven runs in the game one win.
Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) hit two home runs on the day and drove in five runs and scored three. Amelia Ovalles (Lawrence, Mass.) also had two homers, both coming in the same inning in game two while driving in three runs.
Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) went 4-for-7, including two doubles and two RBI.
Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.), Izzy Barreiro (Brookfield, Conn.) and Gabby Rubino (Southington, Conn.) also homered on the day for the Falcons.'

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After both teams went down in order in the first inning, the Falcons opened up the offensive floodgates in the top of the second, scoring five runs. After a walk to Reilly to lead off the inning, Carangelo homered to put the Falcons up, 2-0. After a walk to Rubino and a single by Gianna Carrano (West Haven, Conn.), Smith hit her first homer of the season - a three-run shot - to put the Falcons ahead, 5-0.
- The Falcons put the game away in the top of the third, scoring a season-best 12 runs, nine of which came with two outs. Austin led off the inning with a homer. Three batters later with a runner on, Rubino homered to centerfield to put the Falcons up, 8-0. Smith later hit a two-run triple to put the Falcons ahead, 10-0. Schwippert hit an RBI double and Austin came up for the second time in the inning and delivered an RBI single to make it a 12-0 game. An error plated another run for the Falcons and Barreiro hit a two-run single to make it a 15-0 game. Smith then capped the inning with a two-run double to put the Falcons ahead, 17-0.
- Albertus added a run in the top of the fifth and CSC scored two runs in the bottom of the inning cutting the Albertus lead to 18-3. The Falcons scored three runs in the top of the fifth on a two-run double by Gina Solow (Fairfield, Conn.) and an RBI single by Megan Cross (North Haven, Conn.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After scoring a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI double by Schwippert, the Falcons put together their second 12-run inning of the day in the top of the second to take a 13-0 lead. Ovalles led off the inning with her first homer of the game. The Falcons hit three singles and Boulli followed witha two-run double to put Albertus ahead, 4-0. Schwippert then hit a two-run single to score Boulli and Smith, making it a 6-0 game. After a walk to Austin, Carangelo launched her seventh home run of the season to put the Falcons ahead, 9-0, and Ovalles then followed with her second home run of the inning to make it a 10-0 Game. Smith added an RBI double and Boulli then drove in another two runs in the inning with a single.
- Barreiro then hit her first career home run in the top of the third, which also scored Ovalles, to make it a 15-0 game.
- CSC scored a run in the bottom of the third and made a big rally in the bottom of the fifth scoring nine runs. Six runs came on bases loaded walks and Kyla Angell had an RBI single and Emma Baker, an RBI double.
- Albertus added one more run in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout by Natalia Hernandez (Lorena, TX) to make it a 16-10 game. CSC rallied once again in the bottom of the inning, scoring three more runs, but the Falcons were able to get out of the jam leaving to Chargers stranded on base.
