STANDISH, Me. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team concluded its regular season with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader split with Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday. Albertus dropped game one, 6-5 in eight innings before prevailing in game two, 8-4.
Mikaela Schwippert (Whippany, N.J.) had three hits and two runs in the doubleheader. Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) reached base safely six times and scored two runs and drove in a run.
Gianna Carrano (West Haven, Conn.) scored two runs in game one. Izzy Barreiro was 2-for-3 with three RBI in game two and also drove in a run in game one.
Amelia Ovalles (Lawrence, Mass.) earned the win in game two, pitching four innings in relief. Tessa D'Aquila (Old Saybrook, Conn.) pitched three innings of scoreless relief in game two.
The Falcons will now wait to see who they will host on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the first day of pod play in the GNAC softball tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albertus scored a run in the top of the first thanks to an error by the Monks to make it a 1-0 game.
- After SJC tied the game in the bottom of the second on a bases loaded walk, the Falcons to back the lead after an RBI groundout by Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.) to make it a 2-1 game.
- The Falcons scored a run each in both the top of the fifth and sixth innings on a sacrifice fly by Barreiro that scored Schwippert and a wild pitch that scored Carrano, respectively.
- The Monks battled back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including a two-run single by Brianna Eastman that tied the game at 4-4.
- Both teams left runners on base in the seventh innings as the game went into extra innings.
- Carrano was placed on second to begin the top of the eighth and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Boulli. Schwippert then bunted the ball to first to score Carrano to put the Falcons up, 5-4.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning with a runner on third, Kryslin Stearns of SJC hit a walk-off homer to give the Monks the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albertus jumped out the gate with four runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take a 6-0 lead. The first five batters reached safely in the first inning as Carangelo had an RBI double and Austin and Ovalles had RBI singles to make it a 3-0 game. A fielder's choice by Carrano made it a 4-0 game.
- In the top of the second with two outs, Barreiro ripped a double down the line to make it a 6-0 game.
- The Monks got on the board in the bottom of the third with RBI singles from Chantelle Bouchard and Brianna Eastman.
- In the bottom of the fifth, SJC scored two more runs, including another RBi single by Bouchard and an RBI single from Stearns.
- Schwippert doubled to open up the sixth inning for the Falcons and was driven in by Boulli with an RBI single to make it a 7-4 game. Later in the inning with runners on first and second, Barreiro hit an RBI single for another insurance run for the Falcons.
- D'Aquila retired the final six batters she faced.
