For the first time in program history, the Albertus Magnus College softball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Falcons punched their ticket in resounding fashion with a 10-1 (6 innings) mercy rule victory over Simmons University on the Sharks home field this afternoon. As a result, Albertus captured its second-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament title and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in the process. The Falcons previously won the GNAC title in 1997 at a time when there was no auto-bid to the NCAA Championship.
To celebrate this accomplishment, all members of the campus community are invited to a NCAA selection show watch party on Monday morning at 11 a.m. in the Behan Community Room. It is during this show that the Falcons will learn of their opponent and location for NCAA play, which will open on Thursday, May 14. The opening weekend of play will run through Saturday, May 16.
I hope that you will be able to join us on Monday morning! Go Falcons!
