HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Right off the tip, the Huskies jumped to the early lead on a layup from Jaycie Christopher, only three seconds in. The Falcons answered right back courtesy of a layup from Dogans. The Huskies proceeded to go on an 11-0 run as a result of baskets from Christopher, Avah Ingalls, Liz Cote, Lucy Wiles, and Dakota Shipley. The Falcons put an end to that run as Dogans and Reynolds found the net from behind the arc for back-to-back threes, to cut the deficit to 13-8. The Huskies closed out the quarter up 17-13.
  • The second period saw a lot of back and forth as the Falcons tied things up at 17, after DeBernardo and Fiorillo made back-to-back layups. The Falcons took their first lead of the game at 23-22 when Reynolds made both free throws after drawing the foul on Cote. Wiles' made a three pointer and DeBernardo's made free throws put us back to a tie at 25-25. The Huskies closed out the half on a 12-2 run to go up 37-27.
  • Southern Maine opened the second half on a 9-0 run, courtesy of three straight three pointers, two of which came from Ingalls. Albertus answered with two of their own, from Dogans and Fiorillo. Seven of Dogans' 15 points came in this third quarter, but the Falcons still trailed 57-39.
  • The Huskies went on a 10-0 run to open the fourth quarter as eight of those points came from Izzy Morelli off the bench. The Huskies held the Falcons to only five points in the quarter.
