Women's Ice Hockey Stays Undefeated After Sweeping Chatham In Weekend Series

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team took home the win on Saturday morning against the Chatham University Cougars by a final score of 3-2, completing the weekend sweep in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest. 

Tori Walsh (Marystown, Newfoundland) and Molly Martin (Buffalo, NY) continued their impressive weekends as Walsh scored two goals, and Martin was credited with the game-winner. 

Gabriella Dellacroce (Woodbridge, Conn) had a pair of assists on the day. Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) made 31 saves in goal. 

The 4-0 start is the best in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a scoreless first period, the Falcons jumped in front on during the power play Walsh received a centering pass between the faceoff circles from Dellacroce and put it home at the 9:24 mark.
  • At the 4:14 mark of the second period, Walsh found the back of the net a second time as Kalyn Reynolds (Newington, Conn.) centered a pass on a breakaway to make it a 2-0 game.
  • Martin made it a 3-0 game at the 13:45 mark of the third as she skated the length of the ice and fired home a shot past Chatham goaltender, Samantha Brophy.
  • The Cougars did not go away quietly as Morgan Black snuck a shot by Johnson to put her team on the board, after taking a pass from Liv McTavish.
  • On a 6-on-5 advantage, the Cougars added another goal from Anabel Lota on another assist from McTavish. Albertus was able to hold on the rest of the way to seal the win.

NOTEWORTHY

This is the third time in her career that Tori Walsh has had a two-goal performance. She accomplished that feat previously in December 2023 at Rivier, and in November 2024 at Vermont State Castleton. She had four points during the weekend series.

For the second time in her career, Dellacroce was credited with multiple assists in a single game.

Martin and Reynolds had three points over the weekend series against Chatham.
