THE BASICS
FINAL: Albertus 3 | Salve Regina 1
RECORDS: Albertus (9-2-1) | Salve Regina (6-8-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams combined for 25 shots on net in the first period, but neither were able to get a puck into the net. Johnson stopped 14 shots in the period while Salve's Taylor Hannafan stopped 11.
- It didn't take long for Albertus to get on the board in the second period as Tori Walsh (Marystown, Newfoundland) grabbed the puck along the boards behind the net and fed Clark who darted to the net. Clark put home the puck for her second goal of the year to make it 1-0 34 seconds into the period. Johson stopped all 11 pucks she faced in the second period.
- Albertus held the one-goal lead until the 12:50 mark of the third as Morgan Peritz of Salve tied the game after the Seahawks sent a flurry of shots at the net before one got through to make it a 1-1 game.
- Just over two minutes later and with just six seconds remaining on a power play, Reynolds scored her third goal of the season, putting the Falcons ahead 2-1 at the 14:57 mark.
- Salve pulled Hannafan for an extra skater while the Falcons were also on the penalty kill, but Martin was able to steal the puck in the defensive zone and skate down the ice for a shorthanded empty net goal to secure the win with under a minute left.
