FINAL: Albertus 5 | Purchase State 0
RECORDS: Albertus (3-1-0) | Purchase State (0-1-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It didn't take long for Albertus to get on the board as Stocking put the Falcons on the board after Pennant won possession near the Purchase bench and flicked a pass to her. Stocking then dribbled the ball to the far right end of the 18-yard box near the goal line and fired a shot on a tough angle past Carolyn Hough to make it a 1-0 game in the sixth minute. It was the second goal of the season for Stocking.
- Lamond made it a 2-0 game in the 17th minute after a corner kick was headed by Grace D'Amico (Southbury, Conn.) towards the net. Lamond then finished the job stuffing it into the goal for her second goal of the season.
- In the 23rd minute, Taya Bagley (Foster, R.I.) sent a pass from the sidelines into the box past a Purchase defender right to Pennant who scored her first goal as a Falcon, making it a 3-0 game.
- Albertus kept possession for the majority of the first half, not allowing a shot on goal.
- The Falcons scored two goals in the second half less than three minutes apart. The first of the two goals came from Tsakonas who stole the ball after a clear attempt from Purchase and lofted a shot over Purchase goalkeeper, Valentina Quintero, who was caught out of position, to make it a 4-0 game in the 56h minute.
- Griffith-Waite added the exclamation point on the win with her first career goal in the 58th minute. Sydney Cook (Oakdale, Conn.) fired a pass from midfield down to Griffith-Waite who chipped a shot from near the goalline at the edge of the box into the net.
