Stevens Ties Shutout Mark, Reddy Scores Late Goal As Women's Soccer Tops USJ To Extend Unbeaten Streak To 11

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) tied the program mark for the most shutouts in program history and a late goal from Gabby Reddy  (Wallingford, Conn.) lifted the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) Blue Jays on Wednesday evening, extending the team's unbeaten streak to 11 games in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest.

It was the fourth straight shutout for the Falcons who now have eight shutouts on the season.

Reddy's goal came in the 80th minute, her third of the season.

Stevens finished with two saves on the evening for her 18th shutout in program history, tying her with Maria Case for the most all-time in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons didn't allow a shot on goal in the first half as they controlled possession during most of the first half. Albertus had four shots on goal, two coming from Taya Bagley (Foster, R.I.).
  • During a three minute stretch in the second half, Stevens saw two shots come her way, but was able to make the easy stops.
  • Albertus finally broke through in the 80th minute when a corner kick from Tessa Lopez (Meriden, Conn.) was headed back out to her by USJ. Lopez then dribbled up a few yards and found a wide open Reddy in the box, who fired a shot to the low right corner to give the Falcons the only goal they needed on the evening.
