Women's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Snapped In Loss To Rivier

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team had its 11-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field.

Tyler Stocking (Middletown, Conn.) scored the lone goal for Albertus.

Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) had five saves in net for the Falcons.

The Albertus four-game shutout streak also came to an end.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Leah Morrier scored the first of her two goals in the 20th minute for the Raiders as she took a pass from Maya Leach and fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the back of the net to make it a 1-0 game.
  • The Raiders went into the half with a one-goal lead and added another goal, courtesy of Morrier in the 54th minute, taking another shot from the top of the box to make it a 2-0 game.
  • The Falcons, who kept the pressure on throughout the game finally broke through with their first goal of the game in the 83rd minute when Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) prevented the Raiders from clearing the ball out of the box, and threaded the needle with a pass to Stocking who scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season.
