Women's Soccer Back To Its Winning Ways In 3-2 Victory Over Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team is back in the win column after a 3-2 victory over the Lasers of Lasell University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Wednesday afternoon.

Grace D'Amico (Southbury, Conn.) put the Falcons on the board in the first half. Taya Bagley (Foster, R.I.) added a goal in the second half, as well as Sydney Cook (Oakdale, Conn.) who scored the winning goal for the Falcons.

Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) had six saves in net for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons struck first in the 12th minute with a header from D'Amico off a corner kick from Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) 
  • Lasell answered with a goal from Brianna Marrero who ran onto a corner kick from Brooke Bell in the 43rd minute to tie the game at 1-1 just before halftime.
  • The Lasers jumped in front early in the second half. They added another goal after a free-kick was sent into play from Brooke Bell, where the ball bounced around inside the 18 yard-box, before landing at the foot of Ava Buchmann who fired a shot into the back of the net to put the Lasers up 2-1. 
  • The Lasers' lead did not last long as Bagley tied the game in the 59th minute with her fourth goal of the season. Bravo fired a shot at Lasell goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva, who was able to manage a save off the crossbar. Bagley was in great position and got the rebound goal to make it a 2-2 game. 
  • In the 73rd minute,  D'Amico sent the ball through to Cook on a breakaway opportunity. Cook gathered the ball, dribbled past DaSilva, and put the ball home for the game-winning goal.
