NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team lost its first match of the season, a 6-1 defeat by the hands of John Jay College in the team's first ever City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) on Friday at Celentano Courts.
Albertus dropped the doubles point, but Tiffanie Ly (Branford, Conn.) and Gabby Augustin (Hopkinton, Mass.) won their doubles No. 2 match, 6-3 over Anna Rosario and Thawann Ogle.
Hope Williams (Stonington, Conn.) won her first singles match at Albertus, taking down Briana Bichnique in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 in no. 4 singles. Shawna Glasgow had a close match in No. 1 singles, but lost a close match to Thawann Ogle, 6-7, 6-3, 10-7.
The Falcons get back into action to take on Baruch on Saturday on the road in a CUNYAC match.
